At Island Fasteners, we are your locally owned and operated one-stop-shop for fasteners, compressors, tools, peripherals, and repairs. From general construction to specialty work, if you need it, we’ll have it.
We want everyone to know that our people are dedicated to doing the best job that they can. Nobody is taken for granted, whether they are a repeat or one-off customer. Our mission is to provide good service, reliability, and a willingness to go that extra mile that big box stores cannot offer.
History
21 years ago, many of the larger companies started to leave Victoria because they felt that the market was too small. Our founder, Dave vanHumbeck was working as an island representative for Prime Fasteners and saw that there was still a need for that personal connection. As a result, Dave decided to start Island Fasteners with Jim Proctor in 1999. Shortly after, Jim retired and Island Fasteners became a family-owned business with Dave and his wife, Joanne at the helm. The business saw yearly growth and eventually outgrew the small store on Turner Street and Dave decided that a larger location would better suit the needs of the customers. This prompted the move to Wilfert Road where Island Fasteners continues to give the people of Vancouver Island the best service possible.
Meet the Team
Travis
General Manager
Travis started his career working on airplanes at Viking Air. He started in sub assembly and eventually worked his way up to managing a large crew, ensuring the operation ran smoothly. Travis has been brought in as the General Manager of Island Fasteners for his leadership skills and strategic thinking. He believes that it is paramount to have the right mindset and attitude, which has become the foundation our team has been built on.
Franco
Repair Technician
Franco has over 20 years of experience working in the repair industry. He learned the trade while working his way up to a mechanic position in various rental stores before settling down at ACT tool repairs. After 15 years of running the store, Franco joined our team at Island Fasteners bringing along his skills and knowledge. With Franco’s customer focused values, you can be confident when leaving your tools with us.
